    I don’t know why it isn’t showing what Cass said when I reblog, but it is so accurate.

    As a side note, the Chapel wing wasn’t added until 1732, but I’m relatively certain the brick that was spray painted was original, which means that the methods used to clean it will probably be especially time consuming/difficult. 

    And while “TJ raped sally” is extremely provocative and points out important aspects of the College’s history that need to be discussed more, it is a vast oversimplification of what was most likely a very complex relationship. Chapter 15 of Annette Gordon-Reed’s book the Hemingses of Monticello speaks directly to this issue.
